There's no way I'm getting a 1 in 100,000 chance to proc that often (sometimes multiple times in a row). That is all, of course, assuming all link level ups are independent from each other, and there's not some other formula weirdness hidden somewhere.

For stamina ... It's alright man. If you have no interest in link leveling your units then you can just ignore it. Unless you are and have bunches of units' links at Lvl. 9s and having difficulty to reach the max Lvl. 10, this event is the best way to do it. It forces your units' links to level up once and it helps them tremendously in battles.

The guide says if the path is divided then there's less chance to link levelup because the link level is predetermined to some enemies.
