The best being "monster mash", which gives you three chances in a short span. Watoga vendors have a chance to sell the mods so that's probably better bet though

It is explained in fire breather quest that ultracite does more damage to scorched naturally (not prime mod). But since the property isnt stated explicitly on tool tip, no one will ever know.
