Dayz torch

I was reading a 3 month old thread on dayz subreddit and it was explaining that in namalsk (you need frequent fires to get heat buff) the torches are OP because they will give you the warmth and even thaw out food in your inventory as fast or even faster than a full blown fire in a fire place...So I have the head torch and the only way to turn it on is through the menu. Is there a way to use it like a hotkey. I've placed into one of my hot keys but nothing happens when I try to select it. If there isn't a way to do this I'll post this again as a bug/suggestion, because you should be able to just reach up and hit the 'on" button.

I know that will not happen because I've been playing DayZ since it started and I've seen less people use flashlights than the number of people I've saw using NVGs. They'd rather jack up gamma or walk in pitch black darkness than use light.
